• . Pipelines Canada of toxic TarSands crude over refining is Folly

    by TonyGuitar @ 2012-02-05 – 05:50:54
Refining in province cleaner, safer, smarter, gives jobs and taxes
The sillyness continues with our shipping out raw logs and now the intent of shipping Tar Sands crude to China. Shipping jobs to China and to Texas.

A new refinery in Western Canada seems a wiser investment. The costs of the two proposed pipelines, [Kitimat & Texas], and their risks to all water reserves seems like lunacy to me. Refined products dissipate if spilled at sea. Far better than the damage of crude tanker spills that sooner or later kill the BC and or China coastal fishing, seafood industries. Peter Lougheed agrees! He says,..”Whats the rush?” I say GREED!

Would there be a backlash from millions of Chinese who depend on seafood harvesting if our toxic Tar Sands crude were spilled over their shores, choking out all sea life?

Shipping Tar Sands crude to China seems crassly reckless. Aside from the certain toxic spill, there is the question of careful control of the toxic wastes from refining. China has contractors who dump wastes into the sea. Very profitable but not wise unless you have a clean planet to move to.

So the clever One percent, [Chevron, Exxon, Shell, Cineopec, etc], should consider keeping jobs in Canada, shipping cleaner value-added products and calming the rush to quick dirty profits via ill advised pipelines. One can only hope. They control Harper while we the sheeple seem to influence very few. China and Cineopec now own controlling interests in the Alberta Tarsands. Shocking! No wonder.

PS. Remember the BP Gulf Oil Spill?
BP was shown to be negligent for the huge Texas refinery explosion,2005, [ killing fifteen men]. A few years ago, Bp was made to pay the biggest corporate financial penalty in history. Is there a pattern? 60 Minutes TV...see previous post on

  • Site C Dam vs Home Based Power

    May 21, 2010 at 9:13 pm

[ Dams do destroy great places, Homes, Farms and lives. ]
CBC ?The Current? program May 20 AM had Peace Valley farm owners Gwen Johansen and Larry Petersen speaking against the proposed Site C Dam project this morning.

They did fairly well, yet could have been far more effective. They need to present clean cut ideas that will win over a mass public following. Logical concepts clearly outlined can make all the difference.

Gwen Johansen came closest when points were made about the need to produce power near the places of use like homes business and industry. This saves million$ spent on lines, towers and power stations. It also saves line losses and transformer losses, not to mention wages for staff who maintain all these things. Power lines are prone to weather outages, of course.

Walmart, Google, Fedex and other corporations have power production ?Bloomboxes? on their grounds for reliable energy supply. No power lines, hence no power outages. Bloomboxes look something like a heat-exchanger only larger.

Wind power generation can take place on your garage roof and provide power for lights and electronics. The concept of huge remote wind farms with costly power lines, stations , and staff seems silly. You can?t put a site C dam in your back yard, but you CAN install wind generation there easily. One needs the grid for heavy power appliances like clothes dryers, ovens, base board heaters at least until Bloomboxes or the like become available much as home heat exchangers are now. Volkswagon is also working on a home based power supply appliance.

By the way; What is this pressing need for Site ?C? anyway? Since we stopped shocking bauxite into aluminium in Kitimat, all that tremendous power has been added to our BC power grid. And it looks as though the huge power dam near Prince Rupert for northern coastal mining is going ahead. California can?t afford to pay us for power we supplied them and are still in arrears. Is Site C an ego boost for Premier Gordon Campbell just before he gets voted out ?

So, my university educated friends. This is so simple to you. Kindly explain how a 16 day loan of $100 warrants a repayment amount of $184.80. It looks to me as though the loan clerk fleeced my friend out of $50 by calling the loan $150 while loading only $100 onto the card.

  • EV reminder to Stephen Harper

    Dear PM Harper,

We voted for you and you did much of what we asked and expected.

Thanks for all the good stuff including whistleblower protection law.

Now for the difficult part. I understand you want to remain on the elected side of the house and so prefer to keep Exxon, Chevron and General Motors as 'friends'.

A difficult wire to walk because USA, China, Japan, S. Korea, India, France and Norway are producing electric cars and modern battery packs while Canada seems left behind in the modern electric vehicle age. The latest; a huge China/Russia joint battery production plant in Novosibirsk.

Canada is rich in minerals and raw log resources, yet we seem to ship them offshore to create jobs elsewhere.

Please Mr. Harper; we would like to see Electric vehicles and modern battery packs made in Canada. We are getting sick of the Made in China label on everything we buy today. TG

  • Nissan Leaf, Serious Electric Vehicle contender

Nissan has made enthusiastic pronouncements about their new 'Leaf' EV.

Sounds like they intend to lead the market in just a few years.

The Leaf looks handsome enough. has a photo gallery. Take a look. Just enter Nissan Leaf in their site search bar.

No auto firm has come up with such strong forecast language about their electric vehicle sales future as Nissan has.

This leads me to suspect they have some patented leading technology that can deliver performance and range at a breakthrough low price.

The new Leaf will enter the market in the $21K to $30K zone I have heard. Seems unbeatable, yet the BYD from China has a promised range of 200 miles and we know how China likes to cut prices.

We are all waiting for a few elements to fall into place so we can drive electric and save $400 in gas money every month.
Elements like a safe reliable vehicle, good looks, 200 mile range, modern battery pack, and, most important, a reasonable price. TG

  • Honda Insight, Dump the pump - Go Electric

Honda came out with the Honda Insight over five years ago.

It was one of the best cars for gas mileage at the time, but it was small and limited in several areas.

Honda now presents the new 2010 Honda Insight, and it is a Winner!

It won the best Japan car of the year award. You know that means it is well made and a pleasure to drive.

You can almost quit buying gas with this new insight, and its priced quite low in order to make inroads into the Toyota Prius zone.

The following comes from The best EV or Green auto website on the Web. [ Check them out... enjoy the best!.]

    ====================================== From

Here in the United States, there are more Car of the Year Awards than you can shake a stick at, and apparently that's also the case in Japan. Just last week at the Tokyo Motor Show, the 2010 Toyota Prius won top honors in the 30th annual Japan Car of the Year voting. Now, Honda has sent out a notice that its revived Insight has won the Japan Automotive Hall of Fame Car of the Year.

According to Honda, there were three chief reasons the Insight won the award:

    1. The strategy of affordable pricing Honda used in marketing the hybrid Insight
    2. The Insight's balance of driving performance and environmental performance
    3. The balance of performance and fuel economy at cruising and higher speeds offered by Integrated Motor Assist (IMA), Honda's original hybrid system

Any affordable vehicle that manages great fuel economy will be winner in the eyes of many, so it's not terribly surprising that the Insight took home this trophy. Still, sales results indicate that the Toyota Prius is still firmly entrenched as the number one hybrid to the majority of consumers around the world. Honda Insight is a Winner!

  • Muslim extremest or moderate concepts

Here’s the online voice of moderate Islam. A voice affliated with and supported by major Canadian Islamic organizations such as CAIR Canada, CIC and MSA:

IslamOnline.Net is the leading and orginal (sic) Islamic portal on the Internet. Based in Dubai IslamOnline's objective is to protray (sic) a positive and accurate picture of Islam to the world as well as providing support services for Muslims as well as for non Muslims wishing to explore Islam. IslamOnline.Net is the number one source for Islamic content in the Islamic world.

Ok. Let’s see what that positive and accurate picture is:
Within Islam Online’s fatwa or religious ruling section, one will find various statements advocating, and at times even mandating, the most hideous of violent acts.

About suicide bombings, Islam Online states: Martyr operations are not suicide and should not be deemed as unjustifiable means of endangering one’s life... [I]n martyr operations, the Muslim sacrifices his own life for the sake of performing a religious duty, which is jihad against the enemy... [T]he Palestinians resort to martyr operations, in which the martyr blows himself/herself up, sacrificing his life for the sake of his country... I believe that those missions are a sacred duty carried out in form of self-defense... So whoever is killed in such missions is a martyr, may Allah bless him with high esteem.

About killing homosexuals, the site states: Some scholars hold the opinion that the homosexual should be thrown from a high building as a punishment for his crime, but other scholars maintain that he should be imprisoned until death. Based on the above fact, we can conclude that, the judge is invested with full discretion as to whether this man is to be thrown from a high place or not, as a punishment for his crime. However, if the man survives death fall, the judge has the right to sentence him to death.

On January 1, to ring in the *infidel* New Year, Islam Online managed to outdo itself. It published a poem – and advertised it on all of its web pages, including its homepage – detailing the steps that one goes about to behead human beings.

Here is exactly what the group posted, which is still up on its own page within Islam Online’s ‘Arts & Culture’ section:
    How to Behead
    Hold him
Tie the arms behind his back
    And bandage his legs together
    Just by the ankles
    Blindfold the punk
So that he won't hesitate as much
For on seeing the sharp pointy knife
    He'll begin to shake
And continuously scream like an eedyat
    And jiggle like a jelly
Trust me–this will sure get you angry
It’s better to have at least two or three brothers by your side
    Who can hold the fool
Because as soon as the warm sharp knife
    Touches his naked flesh
He'll come to know what'll happen
It's not as messy or as hard as some may think,
It's all about the flow of the wrist.
No doubt that the punk will twitch and scream
    But ignore the donkey's ass
And continue to slice back and forth
You'll feel the knife hit the wind and food pipe
    But don't stop
    Continue with all your might.
About now you should feel the knife vibrate,
You can feel the warm heat being given off,
But this is due to the friction being caused.
Under the poem are comments from readers, many of which are critical of Islam Online for publishing it. A few of the comments, however, are aimed at non-Muslims. One states, “A PIG IS THE ONLY ANIMAL THAT INVITES OTHER PIGS TO COME AND ENJOY WITH IT’S MATE, A QUALITY THAT IS UNIQUE TO JEWS AND CHRISTIANS...”
Islam Online could be safely ignored were it not for the fact that it has countless Muslims supporters around the globe. This includes large groups within the United States and Canada that continue to give access to the site’s content through links and internet postings – groups like the Council on American Islamic Relations (CAIR), the Islamic Society of North America (ISNA), the Muslim American Society (MAS), and the Muslim Students Association (MSA). Apparently these groups have no problem with the dangerous and offensive subject matter found on the website.
That begins to make sense, when one discovers that representatives from these groups are affiliated with Islam Online. Jamal Badawi, one of Islam Online’s Sharia scholars, is a board member of both ISNA and CAIR-Canada. Muzammil Siddiqi, also an IOL Sharia scholar, is a board member and the former National President of ISNA, Yusuf al-Qaradawi, the Chairman of Islam Online, is the Chairman of MAS’s Islamic American University (IAU). And Altaf Husain, a contributor and correspondent for Islam Online, is the former National President of the MSA and serves on the MSA Board of Advisors.
Considering these so-called ‘moderate’ Canadian Islamic leaders affiliation with this hate and murder site, why is the HRC kangaroo court prosecuting Mark Steyn?

  • Cool Conservative Govt Newsletter; Flex-fuel fixes all

Oil distributors and auto workers may have reservations, however, the majority of Canadian voters would applaud the focus and logic of this PM Harper household newsletter.

    Practical Conservative Party answers to;

Open Letter Re: Kyoto debate from..
Sixty scientists call on Harper to revisit the science of global warming

    Conservatives introduce..
New legislation leading to the Flex-fuel standard for all vehicles sold in Canada.

This standard will give rise to a national network of E-85 and M-85 fuel retail outlets and provide direct competition pressures for lowering gasoline prices.

Example: 49 cents vs. $1.05 per litre USA: 93 cents vs. $3.10 per Gal.

New tax incentives to encourage production and marketing of PEVs, [Plug-in Electric Vehicles.]

90% of new cars sold in Brazil are Flex-fuel and can run on Ethanol / Methanol fuels. A sudden gas shortage will not disrupt the country as it did in 1972/73.

If Opec were to reduce barrel Oil prices in order to compete, [at approx $50 per barrel], then Flex-fuel car owners are free to buy the lower priced fuel of their choosing at any time.

Clean Coal Gen-plant retrofits and Oil-Sands expansion to be addressed soon.
